Deus Ex Machina

"This is the generation of the great LEVIATHAN, or rather, to speak more reverently of that mortal god, to which we own under the immortal God, our peace and defense." -Thomas Hobbes: Leviathan

Anti-Humanist Propositions

(1) The human qua human is intrinsically worthless.

(2) Whatever worth the human has is wholly derivative of an external end.

(3) The value of human acts is purely a function of its effects’ correlation to specified ends.

(4) Character is the sum of these acts.

(5) The value of character is instrumentally, not intrinsically, related to these external ends.

(6) Outside of these ends character is worthless.

(7) Good is relative to these ends.

(8) Desire is the union of these ends, as chosen, in the human.

(9) Human good is the realisation of these desires.

(10) Human virtues are nothing but rational strategies and prudential habits for the successful realisation of these desires.

(11) History is nothing but the arena of the conflict of these ends.

(12) The occasional convergence of these ends is not an intrinsic or necessary fact but a contingent one.

(13) Only those frequent and repeated convergence stable enough to be an object of prediction and basis of a decision are deemed “laws of nature”.

(14) The global convergence and reconciliation of these ends can only be brought about by positivistic divine fiat coordinating the particular ends.

(15) The one end whereby all ends are united is called Destiny.

(16) The Destiny decreed is decided by a purely voluntary divine choice.

(17) Divine might makes right.
