Note: This will be the only time I will deal with this topic in a secular manner. I may draft something about the religious arguments this topic engenders, but I have my doubts it will be any time soon. Also, footnotes are found at the end of the essay proper, and are signified by [ ].
As a preamble to our very important discussion, I would like to offer a remedy to the acrimony and vitriol that infect most conversations and commentary regarding gay marriage. To me it is a simple remedy. It’s easier than turning the other cheek.
